So, you want a watermark on your business cards?
the truth is ...
Paper is created by floating pulp in a large quantity of water. Then, using a screen to
filter out the water, the pulp gathers on the screen, is lightly shaken, and bonds. The
miracle for me is that the bonding that takes place is actually hydrogen bonding, voila!
We have disturbed molecules and rebonded molecules. Amazing how powerful that makes me feel.
The finish of the paper that was created will take on the texture of the screen that was
used. Some screens have a "linen" texture, some have a "laid" texure" and some have a
smooth finish
If you want a custom watermark, a screen with your custom information or go is built,
and paper is produced. A common run for a custom watermark is 100,00 sheets of stock.
A custom watermark "starts at" $10,000. However, you can only use thin sheets of
stock to view the watermark. These thin sheets are not suitable for business cards.
Due to demand for watermarked business cardstock, we have chosen a stock with the
"laid" finish, because the cardstock is both very thick, and has slightly thinner
and thicker areas through which you can view light with subtle differences of
lighter and darker areas. This texture is the standard, "laid finish". Although
it does have a water-created texture, ergo "watermark" it is NOT custom, NOR can a
custom watermark for business card stock be created. There is no paper mill that
tell you any different.
3/21/2008,
Do you know where the term, "upper case and lower case" came
from?
It's the first day of Spring, the sun is shining, and I'm reminiscing ...
Letters were all hot type (molten
lead). Words, books, letters, newspapers, etc., were set by hand.
The type was stored in cabinets, the drawers were called cases
The capitals were kept in the upper (case)
drawer,
and the non caps were kept in the lower (case)
drawer.

Ecologically Earth-Friendly options for business cards
Recycled cardstock has been available since early 1980. Neenah
Paper Company was a leader in this direction. To read what they have to
say about recycled content, visit here
Almost all cardstock is recycled to some extent, however, it is suggested that the recycle "bug"
only be used if the stock contains 100% recycled fiber | 30% post consumer content
We are able to offer many stocks with that level of content and even higher, up to: 100% | 100%.
View some of the recycled cardstocks that we have available.
In addition, there are "vegetable based" inks to complete the picture. Go here to view Calfornia
Business Waste Management Faq's for
a more complete description and to better control waste.
So, what do you think, will/should Eco-Earth Friendly printing cost less, or more?
Good News/Bad News, first the bad, yes, it costs more to recycle paper stock, so the cardstock
costs more. Good News, you can watch your usage, order less cards and avoid throwing away
old, outdated printed material. A common practice is to order 250 cards for those in the office
and 1000 for your salespeople. We have great packages for your company that won't cost
an arm and a leg
Finally, the major drawback we can see. Printing with just black ink is the most Eco-Earth Friendly
option possible. Other colors may contain harmful materials, and of course, add to the price.
Is it worth it to your company to be a leader in reducing your "carbon imprint"?
How committed
are you? Only you can answer that question.
