I want to design my own business card. How should I prepare my file for a successfull project?
1) Your file size should be 3.5" x 2", or, if your card has a
full background with ink that bleeds (goes off the edges), please make
the file and background size, 3.75" x 2.25"
2) Your image area should be no larger than 3.375 x 1.625. This is to allow for
a pleasing margin, and to allow for cutting the cards. Go here to see a sample
3) If you are producing a full color card, it would be best to begin your work while in
cmyk mode to avoid unpleasant or undesirable color changes later in the process.
4) If your graphics are not saved as tif or bmp (200 dpi to 300 dpi), they will need to be
recreated in order to successfully "go to the press". Jpg and gif are great for
viewing on the world wide web, but they are not at all suitable for printing.
5) If you are unable do this, your artist should be able to
supply you with an appropriate file.
